USA, ca. 1960s. A large Model 242 ceramic table lamp by Jane & Gordon Martz for Marshall Studios. Features handmade stoneware base finished in a matte sandy glaze fitted with black walnut neck and finial. New white linen shade is a faithful reproduction of the original. Sculptural with a pleasing organic feel, it has been freshly rewired and is in beautiful vintage condition.

A true family affair, Jane & Gordon Martz met at Alfred University, where they both studied ceramics. Jane’s parents owned and operated Marshall Studios of Veedersburg, Indiana, which her grandmother started in 1922. Together, Jane and Gordon embraced modern design and offered a sophisticated product line that perfectly complimented the growing style’s furniture.
