USA, ca. 1960s. A fabulous geometric painting by artist and sculptor Jim Huntington. Features vibrant acrylic paint on a diamond-shaped canvas with saturated tones of mostly purple and yellow. Wonderfully evocative of the period with an intense optical quality, this piece is sure to become the focal point of any room. Signed and dated on the reverse - with the artist’s very specific hanging instructions. Overall excellent vintage condition with slight age appropriate wear.

Born in Indiana in 1941, Jim Huntington attended El Camino College in California in the late 1950s. He has been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts plus grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Adolf and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. Huntington has held one-person exhibits in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco - and his work is found in many public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. He left NYC in 1994 and now works mostly in large scale stone sculpture from his studio outside of Austin, TX.
