USA, ca. 1960s. A large and visually striking lithographic poster for the Roots of Abstract Art in America, 1910-1930. Features a bold black and white image by Robert Motherwell (1915-1991). Commissioned to announce the exhibition at the National Collection of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C., from December 2, 1965 to January 9, 1966. Administered by the American Federation of Arts, the program commissioned artists to design original posters for major cultural events in the US.

Professionally mounted in a lacquered white wood frame with archival materials. The condition is excellent.
