Amaranth Ehrenhalt Watercolors

Amaranth Ehrenhalt Watercolors

$975.00

USA, ca. 1960s. Two dynamic watercolors by the painter, sculptor, and writer Amaranth Roslyn Ehrenhalt (1928-2001). Each features a bold composition with strong sense of movement in rich, warm tones. Presented as found in period silver leaf frames, which we refitted with archival linen matting. Lovely and intimate works, these are quite evocative of the heyday of the New York School of Absract Expressionism.

A talented and multifaceted artist, Ehrenhalt is recognized as part of the second wave of American Abstract Expressionists. Socializing with Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline, she was among the group of artists frequenting the Cedar Tavern on University Place. After New York, she lived in France and Italy for over 30 years where she met and collaborated with figures such as Giacometti, Sonia Delaunay, Yves Klein, and Hundertwasser.

Both paintings are in excellent vintage condition with honest and appealing age to frames.

Dimensions: 16.5” wide x 20” high x .5” deep.
