France, ca. 1990s. A monumental abstract tapestry or wall-hanging - originally acquired from a gallery in Paris. Features a minimalist geometric design with strong Japanese aesthetic - rendered in earthy tones of brown and gray. Durably constructed of layered wood pulp and fiber with great texture and depth. Includes 2 steel rods, one to hang and another at the bottom for ballast. Would be quite striking in a living room, large staircase, or even mounted over a low bed. Impressive and far less expensive than Rothko. Overall very good vintage condition.
