France, ca. 1970s. A hand signed exhibit poster for Bulgarian artist Liuba Boyadjieva (1923-2005). Produced for Boyadjieva’s 1979 show titled “Liuba Sculptures & Dessins” at Galerie Hervé Odermatt in Paris. Featuring a totemic bronze work by the artist and printed by the esteemed Imprimerie Union Paris that produced many lithographs for well-known artists of the period.
Liuba Boyadjieva was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1923. She studied in Zurich under renowned Paris School sculptor Germaine Richier, later following her to Paris where Boyadijeva’s social circle included artists such as Ossip Zadkine, Viera da Silva, and Alberto Magnelli amongst others. Approaching surrealism in practice, Boyadjieva drew on her subconscious to conjure forms, situating her sculptures between abstraction and figuration with an emphasis on natural shapes.
Freshly framed with archival materials and conservation glass. A scarce and sophisticated piece in beautiful condition ready for display.
