Knud Andersen Teak & Oak Writing Desk

Knud Andersen Teak & Oak Writing Desk
Denmark, ca. 1950s. An early and relatively scarce writing desk by Knud Andersen for J. C. A. Jensen. Features the intricate and nuanced construction that one would expect in something executed by an experienced cabinetmaker - versus a production piece. Generous rectangular teak top offers a deep workspace - and is finished in a subtle beveled edge. Sculptural oak aprons with flared supports and tapered legs demonstrate a Shaker influence. Two storage drawers are each finely crafted with tight dovetailing, angled fronts, and finished with inlaid rosewood bands beneath the recessed finger pull.
Masterfully refinished, the condition is excellent - with a smooth luster and warmth to the surface. A really lovely example of Danish modernism that will be a pleasure to work at for years to come.
Dimensions: 59” wide x 33.25” deep x 28.5” high.
