Antique Vermont Grain Painted Blanket Chest

Antique Vermont Grain Painted Blanket Chest

$2,800.00

USA, ca. early 19th century. A wonderful blanket or mule chest most likely made in Vermont during the 1820s or 1830s. Features pine construction with two dovetailed drawers supported by high arched legs with a dramatically curved apron. Iron-hinged top opens to reveal a large storage space perfectly suited to linens, seasonal gear, or pretty much anything one would like out of the way. Dry red surface shows traces of original grain painting - perfectly worn and subdued by time. An evocative and useful piece that would do well in a foyer, guest room, or at the end of hallway.

Sturdy and in overall very good antique condition - we have freshly cleaned and lightly waxed the inside.

Dimensions: 40” wide x 19” deep x 39” high.
