Antique Sheraton Birdseye Maple Chest
USA, ca. 1820s. A charming antique chest of drawers in the Sheraton taste. Features poplar or pine construction with dramatic birdseye maple drawer fronts and simple rectangular back splash. Top and sides have been hand painted in a darker stippled finish - and while this was originally done to emulate the drawers, it creates an appealing two-town effect. Four drawers offer generous storage perfect for a foyer, hallway, or guest room - while period brass knobs faux keyholes, and turned feet add interest.
A versatile and attractive piece with a good presence to it. We were drawn to its clean lines and most likely rural origins. However, that has not stopped it from trying its hardest to be a more cosmopolitan piece of furniture.
Sensitively refurbished and in overall excellent antique condition with appropriate, honest wear.
