Trio of Jacobsen Dot Stools

Trio of Jacobsen Dot Stools

$1,400.00

Denmark, ca. 1950s. A trio of stackable Dot Stools - or handy occasional tables - by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. From the first generation of production, this version was produced from 1954 to 1958. Each features a sculpted round teak top supported by three enameled metal legs - and held in place with original concealed hardware. An early example of how Scandinavian architects like Jacobsen, Saarinen, etc., employed new materials and industrial techniques to create minimalist designs perfectly suited to their evolving interiors.

Co-developed with the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen, the Dot Stool was used in the Rødvore Town Hall, which was designed by Jacobsen and opened in 1956. Compact and functional, it was the perfect form for the town hall of a rapidly growing suburb meant to convey efficiency and modernity.

Lightly refurbished, this happy little threesome is in overall excellent vintage condition with warm patina to wood and honest age to metal.

Dimensions: 12.25” diameter (top) x 17.75” high.
