USA, ca. 1950s. An incredible three-seat tuxedo sofa by The Architects Collaborative. Features sturdy wood frame with substantial hand tied coil springs supported by cylindrical walnut legs. Freshly upholstered in a soft and durable light gray Danish wool from Maharam (Beck Cornerstone), the back cushions are down - while the seat cushions feature a down wrap over a supportive foam insert. Classic and comfortable, this piece is sure to become the epicenter of the family living room.

Operating between 1945 and 1995, The Architects Collaborative was a respected Cambridge-based design firm established by Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus, along with seven younger architects. Primarily known for buildings, TAC also focused heavily on their interior spaces and the furnishings that would complete the overall user experience. It was this holistic approach that led Gropius to design the famous TAC dinnerware line for Rosenthal. Additionally, co-founder Ben Thompson would create Design Research (D/R), which introduced the American market to the beauty - and functionality - of Scandinavian design.
