Austria, ca. 1890. A charming Art Nouveau settee or bench by Fischel. Features classic bentwood construction with a high arched back and dramatically curved arms. Three oval backrests and wide seat are each hand caned. Frame has been lightly refurbished to preserve patina, while the seat has been masterfully rewoven true to the original design. Perfect for a foyer, picture window, or even at the foot of a bed. Overall excellent antique condition.
An evocative piece that very much brings to mind the playful decadence of fin de siècle Vienna.
