Denmark, ca. 1960s. A handsome pair of open frame lounge chairs by Hans Wegner for Getama. Designed in 1962, the 290 series (GE-290 when produced by Getama and CH-290 when produced by Carl Hansen) showcases Hans Wegner’s dedication to craft, materials, and ergonomics. As beautiful as they are functional, this duo would make a powerful - and inviting - addition to any interior. Each features a high, supportive back with wide paddle arms and sculptural flared legs.
Produced by Getmana in the 1960s, these examples are in the more rarely seen solid teak - as opposed to white oak. Expertly restored and upholstered in a subtle green wool from Maharam, the seat and back cushions are reversible - while the headrest remains ingeniously fixed.
A collector quality pair - the condition is mint.
