Austria, ca. 1880s. A handsome pair of antique Model 31 cafe or side chairs by Gebrüder Thonet of Vienna. Each features a classic bentwood frame with lyrical backrest and playful splayed legs. Round hand-caned seats have been recently restored and are fully intact. Frames have been professionally refurbished to ensure stability - yet preserve honest patina.
Quite evocative of fin de siècle Vienna and lovely to be around. Perfect as occasional chairs or accent chairs in a hallway, foyer, etc.
