Gerry Williams Ceramic Bowl

Gerry Williams Ceramic Bowl
USA, ca. 1970s. A dramatic ceramic bowl by New Hampshire potter Gerry Williams (1926-2014). Features white porcelain construction finished in vibrant copper red glaze. Impressively executed with thin walls and an appealing silhouette, the condition is mint. Inscribed signature to underside.
A conscientious objector during WWII, Williams originally discovered pottery while living in Maine. In 1949, he moved to Concord, New Hampshire where we started his own ceramics business - eventually building his own studio in Dunbarton, NH. With his wife Julie, he founded Studio Potter magazine in 1972. Williams’ refined and thoughtful work is included in the collections of the MFA, Boston, the Currier Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Crafts, and others.
