USA, ca. 1910. An antique hand-blown bowl or compote by esteemed art glass manufacturer Steuben Glass Works of Corning, New York. Features aquamarine glass in Steuben’s 3211 shape, with a flared rim and wide body tapered to a circular pedestal foot. Finished in the verre de soie style, with an iridescent luster and delicately frosted exterior.
During co-founder Frederick Carder’s tenure as director (from 1903 to 1932), Steuben produced over six-thousand shapes and variants and developed more than one-hundred-forty glass colorations.
An excellent example of period Art Nouveau craft and design from a storied maker and region. In overall excellent vintage condition, with light age-appropriate wear.
