USA, ca. early 1900s. A handsome pair of hand forged Arts & Crafts andirons. Each features hammered iron construction with a pierced medallion containing flames, which cleverly appear to dance when lit by fire from behind. Strong yet wonderfully minimalist, they very much bring to mind the aesthetic of the Glasgow School - whose metal work often quoted ancient Celtic motifs and designs. Excellent antique condition with good scale.
