Lee Rosen for Design Technics Table Lamp

Lee Rosen for Design Technics Table Lamp
USA, ca. early 1950s. A rare and early table lamp by Lee Rosen for Design Technics. Handmade in the original Greenwich Village workshop, it features ceramic construction with expressive decoration finished in an ethereal salt glaze. Truly a piece of functional sculpture, this is one of the finest examples we have encountered. Professionally rewired and fitted with a new linen shade, the condition is excellent. Raised DT mark to base.
Founded in 1940, the Greenwich Village craft and design studio of husband and wife team Sam and Lee Rosen became known for its innovative - and high quality - ceramic lamps and architectural tiles. They also offered classes in a variety of media - including metalwork, weaving, enamel, and, naturally, ceramics. Design Technics’ products became quite popular with interior designers. In the mid 1950s, they expanded production to a larger factory Pennsylvania to accommodate demand. The company would cease operations in 1981 - after a fired destroyed their Snydersville shop.
Dimensions: 16” diameter (shade) / 8.5” diameter (base) x 31” high.
