USA, ca. 1950s. A large table lamp by noted VT artist Nancy Wickham (1923-1987). Features handmade stoneware ceramic body in organic tapering shape - decorated in one of Wickham’s signature motifs of lithe human forms over a subtle textured glaze. Supported by original turned wood base. Professionally rewired and fitted with a new linen shade / brown cloth cord, the condition is excellent. Quite scarce, this is an especially nice example of Wickham’s work. Signed.
An early studio potter, Wickham studied at Alfred University in the 1940s, worked with Design Technics, and established her own studio in Woodstock, Vermont in 1949.
