China, ca. 1920s or 1930s. An unusual settee in what is often referred to as the Shanghai Deco style. Features sturdy ebonzied wood construction with lyrical curved back and arms. Delicately carved vertical supports feature a stylized geometric pattern with floral elements. Three wide supports are each inset with white hard stone, which creates an appealing contrast. Cabriole legs enhance the overall sinuous feel.
Perfect for a hallway, foyer, landing, or even at the foot of one’s bed.
Sensitively refurbished, the condition is excellent. Brand new eversible seat cushion is upholstered in a soft ivory Belgian linen.
