USA, ca. 1970s. A handsome three-seat Bastiano Sofa designed by Tobia Scarpa for Knoll. Features solid white oak frame with plush cushions upholstered in a textured oatmeal fabric, all removable with zippers. A sophisticated, modernist form that is also extremely comfortable. Perfect in any living room or den, with generous seating space for relaxing with guests or taking a long, peaceful snooze in solitude. Professionally refurbished and in excellent vintage condition.

Accomplished in his own right, Tobia Scarpa is the son of the noted Italian architect (and national treasure) Carlo Scarpa, who contributed significantly to the advancement of modern architecture and industrial design. With his wife and lifelong design partner, Afra, Tobia continued his father’s sophisticated and innovative work.

Not long after starting their own design studio in Montebelluna, Tobia and Afra originally designed the Bastiano sofa in 1962 for Italian furniture manufacturer Gavina.
