Kirsch & Hamilton Prisma Table Clock

Kirsch & Hamilton Prisma Table Clock
USA, ca. 1976. A stylish and increasingly rare Prisma table clock by Cambridge, Mass. clockmaker Kirsch & Hamilton Associates. Features robust black powder-coated steel housing and a thick lucite lens. The floating geometric dial and hands–rectangular hour and minute hands with a circular second hand–are made of polarized glass lenses, creating a spectacular, refractive or kaleidoscopic effect. Color and hue also changes while observing from different angles.
Label and time adjustment to reverse. Tested and in excellent working condition. Minimal, age-appropriate wear to housing and lens.
Founded by former NASA physicist Jordan Kirsch and architect Jim Hamilton, Kirsch & Hamilton Associates was known for their unique kinetic art clocks, creating several patented designs and movements. Both the Prisma and Aurora series clocks were designed in collaboration with New York-based design firm Corchia and de Harak, making use of innovative polarizing technology and engineered birefringent filters.
