Italy, ca. 1950s. A charming and rare divided serving tray by Alessio Tasca (1929-2020) for Raymor. Features a rectangular ceramic form with hand painted designs in signature “Morelli Green” glaze. Playful motifs conjure up cocktail hour somewhere along the Amalfi coast - just add olives, chips, and Aperol. Impressed manufacturer’s mark to underside - model 1499. Condition is excellent.
A prize-winning ceramicist, Alessio Tasca’s work is in such collections as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. In the 1960s, he began working with an extruder to produce his signature geometric forms - for which he is best known.
