Finland, ca. 1930s or 1940s. An early and out of production Model 401/402 lounge chair designed by Alvar Aalto and manufactured by Huonekalutehdas Korhonen Oy. This scarce model features cantilevered birch frame with high upholstered back and seat. In overall excellent vintage condition with warm patina to wood surface. Vintage upholstery is intact but easily replaced, which RESIDE can assist with. A versatile and comfortable example of Aalto’s practical - yet pleasing - approach to design.
